Review of Samsung Galaxy M40
Samsung’s new A-Series and M-series Galaxy smartphones have received a good response from customers who review customers and phones. Given the price of Galaxy A70 (review), Galaxy A50 (review) and Galaxy M30 (review), these smartphones can be advised. Samsung has recently launched a new Galaxy M40 smartphone in the price segment of few than 20,000 rupees.
This is the most expensive phone ever in the Samsung Galaxy M-series. Apart from Samsung’s flagship S10 series model, you will also get a hole-punch display in the Galaxy M40, which is priced in less than Rs 20,000. This is the first time Samsung has not replaced the earpiece in any of its smartphones when the voice call is received, the handset produces audio vibration. Other specifications of the phone are also strong. Is the Galaxy M40 smartphone the best smartphone in the price segment of less than 20,000 rupees? Let’s know.
Design of Samsung Galaxy M40
The Galaxy M40’s design is no different than the other M-series smartphones. There is a glossy plastic frame and rear panel. Fingerprints fall easily but surprisingly, it does not slip on the phone using one hand. With daily use, there were small scratches on the rear panel made of plastic. To protect Galaxy M40 from scars, keep it in the case. Let me know that the case does not get along with the retail box.
The Galaxy M40 has a 6.3-inch Full-HD + Infinity O (1080×2340 pixels) display. To prevent scratches, it is the protection of the Corning Gorilla Glass. However, it is a PLS TFT LCD panel instead of the Super AMOLED Panel used in Galaxy M30. The display is bright, colors look visor and viewing angles are also good.
Besal around the display and the border on the bottom of the phone is thin. The hybrid SIM tray is placed on the left side of the phone in which the user can put two nano-SIM or single SIM and one microSD card (up to 512 GB). You can not use the three cards at the same time as you can do in Galaxy M30. At first slot, nanotechnology was a bit difficult to apply because the slot looks a bit shorter. But with the second slot, we had no problem.

In addition to the earpiece, the Galaxy M40 also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. The company has given a Type-C headset in the retail box, and we also got a 3.5mm adapter from Type C, which allows you to use the existing headphones. Triple camera module with LED flash on the left side of the phone has been given.
Specifications and software of Samsung Galaxy M40
The core specification of Galaxy M40 is similar to the Galaxy A70 (review). In Galaxy M40 you will find Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, which we first saw in Redmi Note 7 Pro. Only one Variant of Galaxy M40 is available in India, which has 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage.
Speaking of other specifications, the phone includes 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 AC, NFC, FM radio, Bluetooth version 5, and USB Type-C port. Speaking of the sensor, ambient light sensor, hall sensor, gyroscope and accelerometer sensor are part of this phone. The Galaxy M40 also has a “virtual light sensor” to adjust the brightness of the screen.
Talking about the software, the Galaxy M40 runs on Android 1.1.0 based on Juni 1.1. Samsung Galaxy M40 has recently received an update, with updates, the phone has got the Android Security Patch May 2019. The features given in the phone are the same as we have recently seen in other Samsung smartphones, so there’s nothing new to tell about.
If you wish, customize the theme of the phone, configure the monitor, motion and gesture shortcut with your help with the help of the Google Digital Velbung feature, and also enable Dolby Atmos for Wire and Wireless Headphones. Some features were not present such as the olive-on display because the Galaxy M40 does not have AMOLED panels.
OneUI will continue to send you unwanted notifications, but if you focus on setting up the phone and unchecking related options, then you can get free spam-free experience. Surprisingly, this phone does not support Samsung Pay or Samsung Pay Mini despite being NFC.
Samsung Galaxy M40’s Performance, Camera and Battery Life
Regular app and UI performance are great. We saw Galaxy M40 every day for several days and we have no major complaints from the phone. Apps open faster, the interface is smoother and the phone is not very hot when running simple chat and social apps.
Games also went smoothly but on the Galaxy M40 smartphone PUBG: It is a bit hot when playing heavy games like mobile. Even after playing for 10 minutes the last part of the phone was very hot. While playing PUBG, the volume was coming down significantly from the speaker on the bottom of the phone, but the voice in the other app like YouTube was quite fast.
Music playback can be controlled with the help of in-line remote in the phone. The Dolby Atmos works to enhance the volume and impress the soundstage. It is good to watch video or content as a thin border around the display. Most apps automatically mask the hole-punch area but if cutouts do not bother you, then you can force them to use full-screen space.
Samsung’s voice sound technology works well for voice calls. The first time you receive an incoming call, the visual overlay will show you where to place your ears. Galaxy M40 smartphone Widevine L1 is certified, which means that you can stream high-resolution movies on platforms such as Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
Galaxy M40 has the triple rear camera setup
The primary sensor is 32 megapixels. It comes with AI Sean Optimizer and F / 1.7 lens. There is a 5-megapixel secondary camera on the rear side. It is also a depth sensor. The third camera is of 8 megapixels, it comes with ultra wide angle lenses. The phone does not have optical stabilization, autofocus does not work too fast. Although the phone is capable of making video recording and slow-motion video of 4.
The main sensor saves the image of 12 megapixels by default and you can also manually change the resolution to 32 megapixels. The picture is slightly better due to low resolution, so it is best to be with this option. Good lighting captures the main camera detail in good light and colors also look good.
The video quality is good at 4K and 1080p resolution, but the phone does not have stabilization. The super slow-motion video also came good but you can do it only in short burst. Battery life is one of the features of the Galaxy M40. In our HD Video Loop Test, the 3,500 mAh battery has been up to 15 hours and 30 minutes, and on regular use, the battery has been around for almost all day in a single charge.
